| Scope and Content: | The collection consists of 25 issues of The Evening Whirl published in 1953 and 1953. The Evening Whirl, now known as the St. Louis Metro Evening Whirl, was founded in 1938 by Benjamin Thomas. It claim it “has been the country’s one and only crime fighting publication.” It is one of Missouri’s largest circulated newspapers and is the second largest sold newspaper in the St. Louis area, behind the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. |
