In attendance were John Dubinsky, President, presiding; Alison Ferring, Jacque Land, Nina North-Murphy, Janet Rainford, Thomas Schlafly, and David Sweeney.
Also present were Executive Director Waller McGuire and staff members Diane Freiermuth and Kathy Leitle; and John Fox Arnold, Lashly & Baer.
The meeting was called to order at 5:15 p.m. by Mr. Dubinsky.
Minutes:
Ms. North-Murphy's motion to approve the minutes of the September 27, 2017 Board meeting, seconded by Mr. Sweeney, was approved.
Executive Director's Report:
- McGuire gave an overview of the reciprocity agreements between SLPL and other area Libraries, stating that he would be bringing changes to these agreements to the December Board Meeting.
- He pointed out a portion of the August Executive Director's report about how the
Genealogy Department was able to help the U.S. Army in their search for a descendant of a lost soldier whose remains had recently been recovered.
- An incident at Cabanne Library was reported concerning a patron who maced a staff member.
- The next Library Board Meeting will be held at Schlafly Library December 4, 2017.
- The Library received three letters addressed to the Board objecting to the Drag Queen Story Time program. Over 240 attended the program, which the Library considers a major success, and we have received many request to repeat it.
- The Library Foundation Gala will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Central Library.
Ms. North-Murphy's motion, seconded by Mr. Schlafly, to adjourn the meeting was approved.
