National Library Week

CELEBRITIES SUPPORT ST. LOUIS PUBLIC LIBRARY

What do Joe Buck, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Nikki Glaser, and Andy Cohen have in common? These famous St. Louisans are sharing their love for libraries and asking for support of St. Louis Public Library during National Library Week, April 4-10.

National Library Week highlights the vital resources libraries provide for their communities. During this week, St. Louis celebrities and personalities ask the public to join them in their support by becoming a Friend of St. Louis Public Library.

While St. Louis Public Library might have closed its physical doors for a brief time, it met the extraordinary challenges of the past year and expanded its online and remote services. The Library quickly implemented curbside book and mobile print pickup and offered eLibrary cards. And in early 2021, the Library initiated a home-delivery program for residents who are homebound.

For St. Louis youth, the Library adapted in-person storytimes and summer camps to a virtual format and distributed summer learning kits in order to promote learning over the summer months.

Currently, St. Louis Public Library is hard at work tackling the issue of digital access in the St. Louis community. Over the last year, St. Louis Public Library has tripled the number of WiFi Hotspots and Chromebooks available free for checkout at Library locations across the City.
