Correspondence, documents, and newspaper clippings related to the Maryland Avenue Property Association, the Maryland Avenue Realty Company and the Maryland Avenue Association. The Maryland Avenue Property Owners Association was established to control neighborhood improvement and safety for Maryland Avenue in the Central West End. Members of the Maryland Avenue Property Owners Association established the Maryland Realty Company in 1955 for the purpose of acquiring some control over the residential property at 4528 Maryland Avenue. The home at was originally built for Robert Stockton, a director of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition. The Maryland Realty Company purchased the property in 1955 in order to maintain its status as a single-family residence. After it sold the property, the corporation remained alive for the purpose of enforcing the deed restriction. |
