Carpenter Library will be closed January 20 - 24
St. Louis Public Library is continuing to make a major investment in Carpenter Library to increase the reliability of its building systems while reducing energy consumption and maintenance costs. In addition to new geothermal wells being installed beneath the parking lot, the building is also getting a major lighting upgrade. In order to safely replace the existing lighting, Carpenter Library will be closed January 20-24, 2025.
(All SLPL Locations are closed January 20 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.)
While Carpenter is closed, we encourage you to visit our Barr or Buder locations, which are both less than 4 miles from Carpenter. If you're in need of passport services during this closure, those are available at Central (passport photo ID booth on site), Buder (passport photo ID booth on site) or Julia Davis.
If you regularly pick up your Holds at Carpenter, you can choose to switch your pick up location while Carpenter is closed by following the steps outlined below.
NOTE: If you do not change your pick up location, the item will go to Carpenter after we reopen that location.
● Login to My SLPL - City using your Library barcode and password.
● Click on your name on the top right of the screen and select "On Hold."
● To the right of each title you have on hold, it says "Pick up at SLPL Carpenter," with a downward facing arrow. Click the arrow to change your pick up location for any hold.
