In this episode of Your Library Podcast, we highlight the St. Louis Public Library Foundation and two programs it supports. Before delving into the Foundation, co-hosts Honna and Mary share information on the Library’s current curbside and walkup services. Including, how you can access some of Creative Experience’s resource curbside with our virtual programs and online request forms for large format prints and 3D prints.
For this episode’s first interview we are joined by Liz Reeves, Director of the Foundation. The St. Louis Public Library Foundation supports Library programs and services through advocacy and fundraising. To learn about the different ways you can make a gift, be a Friend of the Library, and become involved, visit the Foundation’s website.
Up next, Krista, Manager of Central Youth Services, and Julie, Youth Services Provider at Carpenter, join us to share information on 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. This program is supported by the Foundation and funded by the Nancy E. Wight Trust. It encourages caregivers and their children to read 1,000 books before the child enters kindergarten, thereby giving the child a jumpstart in their education journey. After every 100 books, children receive a free book and once they reach 1000 books they get a backpack and kindergarten supply kit!
Finally, we learn about another program supported by the Foundation, our camps for kids. Jenny, Program Coordinator for Youth Services at the Library and two camp program presenters, Claire of Dayspring Arts and Abby of COCA discuss how they’ve adapted and transitioned these incredibly popular programs from in-person workshops to successful virtual programs. Look for Spring camp registration in February 2021 and Summer camp registration beginning in March 2021.
